Bruins left winger Milan Lucic has been fined $5,000 by the NHL for an obscene gesture directed toward the Bell Centre crowd in the third period of Thursday’s 6-4 loss to the Montreal Canadiens, according to the NHL department of hockey operations.
The gesture was made as Lucic was entering the penalty box after being called for boarding on a hit on Alexei Emelin with 1:20 remaining in regulation. Lucic voiced his objections to the call as he was going to the box. He then got into it with fans as he entered the sin bin.
The fine accounts for approximately 6.8 percent of the game check for Lucic, whose $6 million dollar salary equates to per-game rates of $73,140. The money will go toward the Players Emergency Assistance Fund.
