The website scoutingtherefs.com has released the officials for Tuesday’s slate of NHL games, with Chris Rooney and Paul Devorski getting the call for the Bruins showdown with the San Jose Sharks at the TD Garden.
The pair ranked among the leaders in home winning percentage with the stats provided by the website. Rooney tied Wes McCauley for the highest home winning percentage among refs who called 70-plus games, at 63 percent. Devorski checked in at sixth, with 60.2 percent of decisions going to the hosts. The Bruins won four of six games called by Devorski last season, while splitting three of six games called by Rooney. Devorski has already officiated at Sharks game in 2014-15, a 6-5 shootout loss for the San Jose to the New York Islanders.
The two dissent on penalties, as Rooney was one of just six refs to average four minor penalty calls per game in 2013-14. Devorski, meanwhile, was one of the best at swallowing the whistle, as his 3.4 minors per game ranked 11th-lowest among 33 officials who called 60 or more games. While Rooney’s minor rate was high, 14.4 percent more went against the road team.
Tim Nowak and Brad Kovachik will be the linesmen for the game.
